Fellowship: Syed Shah-e- Mardan Ali Rizvi joined CleanSky ITN in August 2015. He was selected for the ESR 6 fellowship and is investigating network function virtualization for saving server energy at Tsinghua University.
Bio: I received my Bachelors Degree in Telecommunication from Superior University, Lahore, Pakistan and Masters Degree in Telecommunication and Networks from Bahria University, Islamabad, Pakistan. During my studies I worked on Microchip Antenna Designs for my Bachelor Thesis and after that in my Masters I found my interest in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) so I worked on Energy Efficient Routing Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks. After completion of my Masters I joined Superior University as a Lecturer, where I taught different subjects related to Computer Science field, such as Computer Networks, Data Communication Networks, Digital Logic and Design, Computer Structure Architecture etc. Recently for my PhD I am doing my research on an Energy Efficient approach for today’s networks which is Network Function Virtualization (NFV), where my research focus is the Forwarding Plane of the NFV infrastructure. |
What’s your motivation for doing your PhD, and why within CleanSky? |
In order to build my career, specially in academia where I use to teach a new generation, I found that this is the right time to go for PhD and right on time I got the best opportunity one can get regarding one’s field. I decided to take full advantage of the time and my energy to go for ESR6 position, so in those three years I can polish my skills to reach a higher level in my career. |
